Parenting Children
All parents strive to raise confident, kind, and successful children but often feel uncertain about how to navigate the challenges of modern parenting. Balancing priorities, managing responsibilities, and addressing children’s unique needs can feel overwhelming, particularly when trauma or challenging life events are involved.
At Growing Mindful NYC, Michelle helps parents gain insight into their children’s struggles while providing guidance on how to best support them during difficult times. She works closely with parents to address challenges such as:
- Managing difficult behaviors
- Strengthening the parent-child bond
- Supporting children through transitions, trauma, or big emotions
For parents of highly sensitive, neurodivergent, or trauma-affected children, Michelle understands the additional complexities these traits can bring and tailors her approach to foster understanding and connection.
A key focus in Michelle’s work is co-regulation, a process that helps children develop self-regulation by having caregivers model and provide emotional support. By empowering parents with tools and strategies, Michelle helps them feel more confident and better equipped to strengthen their relationship with their child.
Parenting Tweens & Teens
Parenting a tween or teen can feel lonely and overwhelming as they assert their independence and navigate the complexities of adolescence. Tweens may still look to their parents for guidance, but as they approach their teen years, this dynamic often shifts, leaving caregivers feeling pushed away.
The transition from tween to teen can bring challenges like:
- Balancing independence and support
- Navigating new responsibilities (chores, extracurriculars, etc.)
- Communication breakdowns
- Managing difficult emotions, behaviors, or unresolved trauma
You may find yourself asking, “What am I doing wrong?” or feeling emotionally exhausted by your child’s changing needs. Michelle helps parents better understand and manage their tweens’ and teens’ behaviors and emotions. She also provides a compassionate space for parents to explore their own feelings and challenges during this period.
For parents of highly sensitive, neurodivergent, or trauma-affected tweens and teens, Michelle’s approach is inclusive and tailored to meet the unique needs of both child and caregiver.
With Michelle’s guidance, you can navigate this journey with greater clarity, confidence, and connection, fostering a stronger relationship with your tween or teen.
