Tweens & Teens

Tweens & Teens

The tween years (ages 9–12) mark a significant transition between childhood and adolescence, as children begin to experience rapid physical, cognitive, and emotional changes. You may notice your tween’s growing individuality, desire for independence, and emerging self-expression.

In the teen years, these changes deepen as your child develops mental maturity, forms their identity, and navigates independence. This period of growth can bring unique challenges as they explore who they are and their place in the world.

Some of the challenges that tweens & teens face are:

  • Physical changes during puberty
  • Transitioning to middle or high school
  • Navigating independence
  • Exploring sexuality and gender identity
  • Managing relationships
  • Social anxiety or depression
  • Trauma
  • Academic pressures
  • Anger or irritability

At Growing Mindful NYC, Michelle specializes in supporting tweens and teens, including those who are highly sensitive or neurodivergent. She helps them develop self-awareness, distress tolerance, and problem-solving skills, empowering them to better navigate life’s challenges, build resilience, and thrive during these transformative years.
